Obviously there's no load existing game option because I've never played it before.
Because Steam keeps rolling new updates every once in a while for its game, it is advised to keep your graphic card up-to-date all the time. However, Ive tried doing less in-depth characters and switching around what I want for my actual character, and sometimes it works no problem. Fallout 4 is a great game, but it has a ton of bugs especially on PC. Same issue here, although I don't even get to the intro, happens like the OP - start from launcher, black screen, then crash. The game developers keep releasing new patches to enhance the gaming experience, fix the previous issues, and add features. If the newly created gamertag profile with no Fallout 4 savegames manages to start the game, you might try to load a previous savegame, if you created another save manually. 
"Fallout 4" officially came out on November 10 and within three days after its release, the game had already sold over 1.
